Previewing audio before importing into Procreate Dreams
Procreate Dreams supports a wide range of audio formats that you can use to enhance your animation and motion video.
This article provides tips for optimizing your workflow with projects using multiple audio files.
Use split-view to preview your audio
Choosing the right audio for your animation can be a process of elimination. It’s often a case of ‘you’ll know it when you hear it,’ requiring listening to dozens of audio files.
Rather than dropping multiple options straight into your Procreate Dreams Timeline, previewing the sound first is more effective. And the best way to achieve this is through Split View.
Follow these steps to open Files and Procreate Dreams together in Split View:
In Procreate Dreams, tap the multitasking button at the top of the screen (If you can’t see the multitasking button , first tap near the top of the screen to make it appear).
Tap Split View
Open Files app
Navigate to the folder containing your audio files.
Tap the audio file to preview the sound. You can scrub along the content at the bottom of the screen, which is handy for longer audio files where you might want to use a trimmed portion.
Once you’ve found audio that suits the project, drag it onto the Stage to add it as a new track. Alternatively, drag the audio onto the Timeline if you want to add it to a specific location on an existing Track.
Finally, use trim and audio level keyframing within Procreate Dreams for final adjustments to help match it perfectly with your movie’s action.
