Creating a new canvas is the starting point for any artwork. Learn how to create a new canvas from one of Procreate’s built-in presets or entirely from scratch.

How to create a new canvas from a preset

1. From the Procreate Gallery, tap the add button in the top right corner.

2. Choose a preset from the list; Screen Size is a great place to start. Note each preset displays its dimensions and color profile.

How to create a new custom canvas

1. From the Procreate Gallery, tap the add button in the top right corner.

2. Tap the new canvas button in the top right corner of the New canvas menu.

3. Enter your desired canvas dimensions in the Custom Canvas panel that appears.

4. Further customize your new canvas by adjusting Color profile, Time-lapse settings, and canvas properties.

5. Tap Create in the top right corner when ready.
