Can I recover lost or deleted artworks?
You may have deleted artworks in two situations: by deleting the app itself or deleting artworks within the Procreate Gallery. In both cases, the artwork can be restored if you have backed them up to another storage location, such as iCloud, or another device.
Procreate’s data is stored within the app on your iPad. This means that if you delete the Procreate app from your iPad you will also delete your artwork. Ensure that you have backed up or exported all the artwork you want to keep before removing the app.
If you delete Procreate or any artwork from your Gallery, you will see the warning message, ‘Are you sure you want to delete this artwork? This cannot be undone.’ If you aren’t sure if you have backed up your work, tap Cancel and back up your artwork now.
You can only reimport work if you have previously backed up your artwork. To back up your work, it needs to be exported out of Procreate or via a complete iPad backup . You can reimport artwork with Import .
Restore your iPad from an iCloud Backup
If you haven’t manually backed up your Procreate files, you can try to restore your iPad from an iCloud Backup. You should have automatic iCloud backups activated on your iPad by default. If you restore one of these backups, you may be able to recover lost artwork.
Heads Up
Restoring from an iPad backup will restore your entire iPad, not just Procreate and any newer artwork will be lost. We recommend you back up your artwork manually before restoring your iPad from an older iPad backup.
