Managing your undo history in Procreate Dreams
In Procreate Dreams every action taken is saved as an undo step, with this undo history stored inside the .drm file. Each movie you create saves every action taken, even after you exit out of a movie or close the app. This means you can pick up a project from where you left off at any time with a movies’ complete undo history intact.
By default, Procreate Dreams stores 250 undo steps. You can adjust the total of undo steps stored inside your file in Movie Settings → History → Total undo steps. You can set your Total yndo steps between 10 to infinite . Setting your Total undo steps to infinite means you store every change you make within that .drm file.
Heads Up
Setting the Total Undo Steps to Infinite may significantly increase your file size, reducing your available iPad or iCloud storage. Opting for fewer undo steps will keep your file size down but offers less control over your past changes.
How undo steps work in Procreate Dreams
It’s important to note that after your nominated Recent undo steps percentage limit has been reached, steps will roll back in ever increasing bundles of steps: the first few undos revert a small number of steps, with each subsequent undo deleting an increasing amount of steps at a time. The last few undos make larger jumps as they return you to a blank canvas. This distributed approach to undo steps means you can jump further back into your history while keeping your .drm file size small.
For example, with Total undo steps set to 20 and Recent undo steps at 50%, you initially go back one undo step at a time for each undo until you reach 10 steps.
If you continue to undo more than 10 times, multiple steps undo at once with the step amount increasing with each undo. Regardless of the number of Total undo steps set, you will always return to a blank canvas.
