How to back up your Procreate Pocket artwork
Procreate Pocket saves all data, including artwork, locally on your iPhone’s internal storage. This data will be lost permanently if you delete the Procreate Pocket app, overwrite your internal storage, or reset or lose access to your iPhone. To avoid this, you should regularly export your artwork or back up your iPhone using one or more of the options below.
We highly recommend doing this before updating the Procreate Pocket app or your iOS.
When sharing canvases, we recommend using the .procreate format to ensure that you retain all your image, layer and Time-lapse data.
Artwork sharing methods:
Share to Files via drag and drop, just like in Procreate (set your preferred File and Image formats in Settings > Apps > Procreate Pocket).
Back up your iPhone:
Performing a full iPhone backup will store all your iPhone data (apps inclusive) in a singular file that you can restore to at a later point.
Heads Up
A backup made this way does not allow you to access your individual files without restoring the whole thing - they are stored inside the backup file itself. It is best to use this method in tandem with regularly backing up your artworks to external locations.
You can back up your iPhone to iCloud or a Mac or Windows computer. This article from Apple covers each method.
Danger
Check Procreate Pocket is toggled on in All Device Backups within the iCloud Backup section. If it’s toggled off, the app won’t be included in the backup.
