How to use Performing
Procreate Dreams’ Performing feature is a powerful, fun, and intuitive way to animate. Use Performing to easily move, scale, rotate, distort, warp, and add filters such as Gaussian blur to your content. Content can support multiple different filters, with each filter type added as its own keyframe track.
Perform your content moving, rotating, or scaling on the Stage
Move the Playhead onto your content.
Set the Playhead at the position where you would like the animation to begin.
Tap the Performing button .
The button will switch to a stop button and the word ‘Ready’ will appear in the top left-hand corner of the Stage. When you are Performing, the message will switch to ‘Action’.
Drag your content to any position on the Stage or Backstage. Performing will record your movements in real-time.
You can also scale and rotate your content. To scale your content, drag a corner node in or out. To rotate, tap the corner node and then drag the rotate handle that appears.
Lift your finger at any time during your performance to pause recording.
Here are some tips for performing motion:
You don’t need to tap on the content itself to move it. It’s often better to drag anywhere on the Stage outside of the bounding box so you can see your content.
Moving your content between Backstage and the Stage is a great way to introduce or exit content from a scene.
Perform your content warping or distorting
Warp and distort are both options within the Move section of the Action menu. Like the other options here, they are controlled by the bounding box on the stage.
Tap the Playhead .
Tap Move .
Tap either Warp or Distort .
Drag the bounding box nodes on your content to perform it changing shape.
Heads Up
Content can’t have both warp and distort applied to it. If you want to switch from one to the other, delete the keyframe track of the filter you want to remove.
Perform filters on your content
You can perform filters to transition the content from one state to another over the duration of your movie. The filters available in the Filter section of the Action menu are Opacity , Gaussian Blur , Sharpen , Noise , and HSB (Hue, Saturation, and Brightness) .
Tap the Playhead .
Tap Filter .
Tap the filter you want to apply.
Use the controls to adjust the filter effect.
Tips for applying filters:
You can apply multiple different filter types to one item of content. Some filters contain tabs or advanced settings for further options.
If you want to apply a filter, such as opacity, to the entire content or group, use keyframes instead. Apply a keyframe at the start and end of the content or group.
Ending Performing
You can continue performing over content as many times as you want, adding multiple motion and filter effects with each pass.
When you’re ready to exit Performing, tap the Performing stop button . The icon will switch back to the Performing icon and the text ‘Ready’ will disappear from the top left-hand side of the screen.
Pro Tip
You can edit or add any keyframes created in Performing by interacting with the associated keyframe track on the Timeline.
