Theater

The Theater is the first view you see when you open Procreate Dreams. In here you can create, open, organise and share your movie projects.

Tap the add button to create a new movie based on templates or your own custom settings. Check on the Create a new movie section below for more details.

Any project you create or import will appear as a movie with a preview image in the Theater. 

Tap Select to group, delete or duplicate one or more movies.

With Select active, tap on multiple projects, then tap and hold a selected one to present options for duplication, grouping, copying to the alternative storage area, and deleting.

Tap here to show the side panel, which allows you to select your storage location for your Procreate Dreams movie projects.

You have two options:

'On My iPad': selecting this will store your movie projects in your local iPad Storage (Files → On My iPad → Procreate Dreams → Theater).

'iCloud Drive': selecting this will store your movie projects in your iCloud Drive storage (Files → iCloud Drive → Procreate Dreams → Theater).

Create a new movie

Get started straight away in Procreate Dreams with a selection of common screen formats and resolutions. You can choose to begin with a Flipbook (our frame-by-frame animation mode) or an empty project that you can populate.

Tap the add icon in the top right-hand corner of the Theater. This will open an interface where you can create a new movie.

Procreate Dreams has a selection of common aspect ratios used for animation and video content. These range from popular social media options through to cinematic ultrawide screen.

Swipe up or down to view the following presets:

1. Wide screen (16:9)

2. Ultrawide screen (21:9)

3. Social (9:16)

4. Square (1:1)

5. Screen size (varies based on your iPad)

Each screen size can be set to four different resolutions with 4K being the default. To select the resolution of your movie, tap the 4K icon and choose from the resolution options that appear in the context menu.

Tap Flipbook to begin the movie project and be taken direclty to a fresh Flipbook. In Flipbook, you can create frame-by-frame animations across multiple tracks. Learn more about Flipbook here.

Tap Empty to start working on your movie with an empty Timeline in Compose mode. This will allow you to start with a fresh view and import or start creating content from scratch.

Tap the ellipsis to access extra options for your movie preset:

1. Frames per second (FPS) - sets how many individual frames comprise one second of your movie.

2. Duration - duration of your movie preset

3. Reset to defaults - set this preset back to its default FPS and Duration

Rearranging movies

Tap and hold on a movie to pick it up. Continue holding and drop it in another position to rearrange it.

While holding down, tap on another movie to pick it up and move them together, and tap on a folder to enter it, allowing you to drop the movie inside. While holding on a movie, tap on the title of a folder to return to the Theater so you can return to the movie to the main view.
