Flipbook mini

While working in a Flipbook in Procreate Dreams, you can reposition the interface to different spots in your canvas area. Drag the grey handle to move the Flipbook, and scrub across the notched wheel to progress and rewind time.

Press the play/pause button to start and stop playback for your Flipbook, and use the left and right arrows to go to the previous and next drawings respectively.

The selected track in the standard Flipbook view will be the track you're working on when you undock the Flipbook and move it around.

Position the Flipbook mini at the top, bottom, left or right of your screen to have it softly lock to that edge. Leave it wherever you like on the canvas and it will float in a condensed view in whatever orientation it was last in (vertical or horizontal).

You can ‘throw’ the Flipbook mini by releasing as you drag it quickly. It will stop at the edge of the interface area and remain there until you move it again or exit and reenter a Flipbook.

Placing or throwing it to the bottom will revert it to the regular Flipbook interface. Each time you exit and reenter Flipbook it will revert, giving you the full view of your Flipbook tracks and frame content.

When the Flipbook mini is horizontal, your frames will order as usual from left to right. When the Flipbook mini is vertical, your frames will order from top to bottom.

Drag your finger left across the Flipbook mini when it's horizontal to scrub forward in time. Drag right to go backwards.

When it is vertically oriented, drag upwards to scrub forward in time, and drag downwards to go backwards.

If you proceed to an empty frame in the Flipbook mini, you can paint directly on it and a frame will be created for you. You cannot paint beyond the duration of your Flipbook, however. You will need to return to the Timeline and manually extend your Flipbook if you have reached the end whilst painting.

Scrub Lock

You can set a frame to return to when you have scrubbed forwards or backwards in time. This is called the scrub lock. To set this, scrub to the desired frame, then tap the scrub wheel.

A notification at the top of the screen will tell you which frame you have selected for your scrub lock, and the current frame notch on the scrub wheel will be highlighted pink.

As you drag away from the scrub-locked frame, you will see a shaded section fill from the original notch to the frame you scrub to. When you release it, Procreate Dreams will snap back to the frame you set as the scrub lock.

Scrubbing with Onion Skins

If you would like to toggle whether you see onion skins when you scrub across your Flipbook frames, head to Settings → Onions → and toggle 'Scrub visibility'.

When scrubbing with this toggled on, it will respect your current onion skin settings.

Scrub Speed

If you feel that the scrub wheel is moving too quickly or too slowly between frames as you drag across it, you can switch it to another mode. To do so, open your Flipbook and head to Settings → Prefs, where you'll see Scrub speed at the bottom of the options.

Next/Previous Drawing

When working in Flipbook, tap the right or left arrow button to jump to the Next or Previous drawing of your Flipbook track, respectively.

Hold down Next to jump to the final drawing in your Flipbook track, and hold down Previous to jump to the initial Flipbook drawing.
