Performing records keyframes in real-time using gestures. Any action you perform is recorded and appears underneath your content on a keyframe track.
You can perform any action you can keyframe in the Playhead → Move , or Filter menus.
To perform movements and changes to your content, you must first enter Perform mode. To do this, tap on Perform on the bottom of the Timeline, while in a movie.
Perform mode allows you to produce motion and changes with a nice organic feel.
Record move, scale, and rotate keyframes as a real-time performance by tapping the Perform button.
Set your Playhead on the content where you’d like to start performing.
You will know that Perform mode is ready when you see a pulsing record icon in the top left of the interface.
Tap and drag anywhere on the stage to move your content and begin performing.
Lift your finger or Apple Pencil at any time to pause Performing. Tap and drag to start performing again.
Tap Keyframe or Compose to switch to either mode. You can modify any keyframes you laid down in either Perform or Keyframe mode.
You can perform more than once on a single piece of content. Try performing a scale action on your content over the top of a recorded move performance. Your content will now move and change size simultaneously.
If your performance is longer than your content, it will extend the content where possible.
Apple Pencil Pro users can simultaneously perform move and rotate keyframes using the barrel roll feature. To rotate while moving, follow the steps above and rotate Apple Pencil Pro while dragging your content across the stage.
To perform move keyframes without rotation, turn off the Rotate Performing with Apple Pencil Pro toggle in Movie settings → Prefs → Gestures → Rotate Performing with Apple Pencil Pro.
Tap Perform mode while it is selected to access Motion filtering and Roll sensitivity to adjust the level of smoothness in Performing.
When using Performing, tap Perform again (down the bottom) to enter the Perform mode settings panel.
Increase the Motion Filtering percentage with the slider to make your animation smoother and reduce shakiness. To perform rapid movements and capture every movement you make, set this slider to 0.0%.
Decrease or increase the sensitivity of using barrel roll with performing (Apple Pencil Pro only).
You can also perform warp and distort, plus all other filters, in the Live Filters menu.
Set your Playhead on the content that you'd like to perform a Filter for.
Tap your Playhead to open the Action! menu.
Select the action you wish to perform from the Motion or Live Filters menu.
Move the Warp , Distort , or a Live Filter slider (such as the one found under Opacity) to immediately start recording the changes.
Stop using the action at any time to pause performing. Start using the action to begin performing again.
Tap Keyframe or Compose to switch to either mode. You can modify any keyframes you laid down in either Perform or Keyframe mode.
Performing an action over an existing action of the same type will overwrite it.
