The Draw & Paint mode houses a variety of settings that help you customize how your drawing experience feels in Procreate Dreams. Each tab of the menu is explained below.
Opens the Photos app and allows you to insert one or more images into your canvas from here.
Opens the Files app and allows you to insert one or more images into your canvas from here.
You can also resample your work using interpolation to increase or decrease its scale as a whole.
Toggles the visibility of keyframe effects on the current drawing or Flipbook.
Sets the opacity for the diagonal lines that indicated your unselected area when using the Select tool. Lower visibility = less opaque.
Toggles the visibility of your onion skins for this particular track in your current drawing or Flipbook.
You can adjust movie-level onion skins in Movie settings → Stage → Onions.
Selects from the previous frames and the future frames when making adjustments to the options immediately below.
Amount of onion skin frames visible for the direction selected above (backwards/forwards).
Sets the opacity of the frames for the currently-selected direction.
Sets the color for the previous or future frames depending on the choice made above.
Tap the toggle to choose whether to select a color, and tap the color itself to adjust it using a Colors disc that will appear to the right.
Toggles whether the current frame is also included in the onion-skin blending. Useful when the current frame is opaque and occupies a lot of visual space.
Toggles the visibility of the brush cursor when painting and/or when hovering (if you have a hover-compatible iPad and Apple Pencil).Choose extra options for your brush cursor:
Brush cursor visibility:
Show while hovering - shows the cursor when hovering the Apple Pencil above the screen*
Show while painting - shows the cursor when painting specifically
Show both - shows the cursor while hovering* and when painting
Brush outline style:
High contrast - shows a high-contrast outline of the brush based on the content below.
Active color - shows the brush cursor using the active color\
Per brush - lets the brush itself define the brush cursor style

Choose extra options for your brush cursor:
Brush cursor visibility:
Show while hovering - shows the cursor when hovering the Apple Pencil above the screen*
Show while painting - shows the cursor when painting specifically
Show both - shows the cursor while hovering* and when painting
Brush outline style:
High contrast - shows a high-contrast outline of the brush based on the content below.
Active color - shows the brush cursor using the active color
Per brush - lets the brush itself define the brush cursor style

Sets the interaction between the pressure you input with the Apple Pencil and how readily it impacts the pressure variables of the brush.

Often size and opacity are heavily affected. You generally shouldn't need to adjust the pressure, but you may want to if the balance doesn't feel right.
Adjust how much smoothing is applied to your painting strokes.

Dynamic brush scaling is a feature that intends to keep your brush strokes consistent with size across various zoom levels.
Toggle this ON to have Procreate Dreams attempt to keep your stroke sizes consistent.
Toggle this OFF to have the size relative to the screen space itself.
Toggle the size and opacity sidebar between the left and right side of the interface.
Select to store your brush libraries in iCloud Drive or locally on your iPad itself.
Toggle this ON to to store your brush libraries in iCloud Drive → Procreate Dreams Brushes. Toggle this OFF to store your brush libraries in On My iPad → Procreate Dreams → Brushes.
If you tap this, select 'All brushes' to move your entire library across, 'New brushes only' to move any new or changed brushes across, and 'Cancel' to close the screen and stop the storage change.
Toggle this on to allow touch input for painting.
Opens the Help menu, which contains:
Send brush upgrade report - useful for when your brush migration has been partially or completely unsuccessful.
Help Center - opens up the Help Center page where our Handbook and Articles live. Check here for handy information like the Handbook you're currently reading.
Tapping this closes the Draw & Paint interface and returns you to the Timeline.
You can quickly tap twice on the title (Drawing/Flipbook) to return to the Timeline.
